Well I thought as Steve is as usual 'Out of Office" AKA Couldn't be arsed! I would jot down the match review as I didn't want this weeks review in before last weeks... so here we go...
ONE YEAR ON!!!
Yes The Mighty Lions have been running around the pitches of Colombo and beyond for One year! Our very first opponents were Old Anandians so the management thought it would be good to play our old old foes again. Last time round it was 3:1 to the Lions and this time a slightly better scoreline but a much better display in winning 4:1.
The first half started well for the Lions with a goal in the first 5 minutes. The huge pitch helped the Lions to use the wide men well and even Donaldinho raced down the left to whip in a ball for Chicksy to slam in on the half volley.
10 minutes laater Mucky got a goal by running the line cutting inside and slamming the ball past the keeper after a delightful through ball by Matt.
The third was from a corner swung in by Mucky, headed on by Chicksy and KNEED in by Man of the Match Steve.
3 to nill and cruising at half time.
Old Anandians obviously had a good team talk because at the start of the second half and for 20 minutes they were all over a bewildered Lions team. Perhaps a bit too relaxed? Well a cross from one of their wingers missed the keeper and unfortunately was put in by Mohan :x 3:1 Was there a come back on?
Well the Lions soon got back into the match and by the end the opposition were chasing the ball.
A lovely effort from Chicksy was parried by the keeper only for Ali to score his first goal for the Lions! :lol: 4:1 and the game was over.
A great game to cap off a great year for the Mighty Lions!!! :P

even in the glorious light of a man of the match Stevie could not manage a mere report on the anniversary game... bloody big shame!!!!!! |
