For the second time in two weeks the Lions bagged four goals in a game.
This was no mean feat as the match on Saturday was against the Newcastle wannabies who had hammered us 4 -1 in the not so distant past. It was clear by the look in the eyes of our defence that there would be no repeat performance.
Most of the pre match banter was focused on the small Lionel Ritchie look-alike who was quoted as being the best player in the League. The game started well and from the outset it was clear that there were goals in the game. Despite playing against eleven men, two linesboys and an incompetent ref we made an early breakthrough. Ali danced down the wing and put a solid cross into the middle of the box for the toe to finish. They came back against the run of play with a rather scrappy, if not slightly lucky tap in. Five minutes later, we were back in front as the always reliable Yorkshire boot of the gaffer hammered home a rebound of the keeper. Half TimeSecond half started in the same positive manner as the first and again they somehow managed to break our steadfast defensive. For once we kept our form, determined to take the game with the clock ticking. Another classic Mucky goal. He powered past there defence like a charging Wildebeest and with precise finishing slotted home. The game was all but over when in the dying minutes a Mucky corner was driven in by the back the toe’s shoulder/head /back/.
4-2, a great victory which was made all the sweeter with the news that England had just bowled out the Aussies. Many thanks to Majestic City for selling me the boots to enable me to score and the training on Monday which gave me some invaluable knowledge of the game of football.
An end of game beer was had but there was a no show by Kevin as he was too tight to pay the extra 25 Rps in the Cricket Club.

Actually Toe, Kevin and a few of the more regular after match drinkers went down to our favourite haunt of the CR as we wished to discuss the merits of the match instead of watch the most boring part of the Ashes test to date. Oh and it is 65 Rs. difference which turns into about 10,000 by the time I have finished drinking. Just think, if you had come to the CR instead of the cricket club you could have been buying your own drinks in the R&B late night instead of nicking other peoples off their tables - shame on you.
