This game was played on a big pitch which for a change was soft underfoot. It was a welcome back to the team for Steve Randy and Jack who have been MIA for the last few weeks.
The game was a cagey affair with very few chances.
Maliagawatta started well and scored after about 20 minutes.
In fact it was their only real threat to goal throughout the game as our defence only allowed them long distance shots which were easily dealt with by Asanga.
They clearly set their stall out not to lose this game at their home ground in front of quite a few of their fans. We had beaten them earlier in the season 3:1 and so they stacked their defence. It was a ploy that worked, as apart from the odd mistake by their defenders they shut us up all game.
In the end a fair enough result but the footie was abit boring for the players nevermind the crowd.
This was a benefit match with all monies going to Mr. Osmans (the ref) daughter who is very ill in hospital. The procedings will be given to him at practice on Monday night.
Thanks for your support! :D
