Gents, the MoM's summise - a fine one at that!
Match against the Kotte under 19’s on the 11th of March 2006.
The Colombo Lions had a good game against the Kotte under 19 Team with Paul scoring the first goal in the first half from a volley which he struck from the right side of the box to end up in the left side of the net. Thereafter, the midfield and forwards created chances but the finishing just let us down.
In the second half, one of the opponent’s forwards managed to get behind the Lions’ defense and found only the keeper to beat, which he did, thereby scoring the equalizer. As in the first half, the Lions created a couple of chances but could not put the ball in the back of the net. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
We lost possession almost everytime the goalkeeper kicked the ball deep. I think we should try not to do this all the time & instead, try to work the ball by using the backs as well.
I wish to thank the Lions for giving me the opportunity to play for them as I have not played football for a team before.
