Hi lads,
Well done last week with the 12 nil spanking you handed out. Just one thing... Can i have the report along with players and goal scorers and assists?
I will update the stats when it is uploaded.
Oh almost forgot MOM?

On a day when the Lions were fighting on 2 fronts - 7 core players were on overseas duty in te Bankok 7s tournament - the home front needed all hands on deck.
With both regular keepers out and all the regular central defenders either in Bankok or Galle not to mention our regular strikers' absence it didn't bode well. Island Star, being a new team were a mystery and we had to assume they were handy.
As it happens we got a fairly good turn out with young Silvan stepping in at very short notice to stand in net. Julian and Chandu breached the void in the centre of midfield with Pablo playing front of them feeding Farouq up front. Thankfully we had our regular bakck 4 with Chopper, Steve, Martyn and Murray standing firm at the back. The wings were occupied by Mahlon and and Laurent. Another couple of new faces, Hasheem and Adan and Mesh and Semen sat patiently on the bench.
The opposition certainly looked the part in their Brand Spanking England kit and we kicked off with Trepidation.
It turns out that we needn't have worried. While there was some individual quality in the opposition, their positional play was poor and with the rearranged Lions in particularly good form there was really no competition. Suffice to say that the 12-0 result speaks for itself.
The game saw 2 hat tricks from Chandu and Farouq. A brace from Pablo and goals from Mesh, Julian, Adan and Semen. The back for rarely let the opposition have a sniff at goal and what little snuck past them was deftly dealt with by Silvan. Chandu and Julian dominated in midfield. The wingers ran relentlessly and all the strikers linked up harmoniously with Pablo the provider. It was his vision and creativity that earned him MOM though Murray got a few votes too. |
