Colombo Lions v Prema Gona Youth

Well where do we start with this one...........i am not going to say too much about the match as i could not carry the dictaphone whilst organinising the opposition, captaining, managing and "sorting the kit out".............

Where have the mighty lions ALL disapeared to? on a day where only 8 Lions turned up and the opposition were the Milan of Colombo, with a squad of 25 and as many supporters, Manager and Coach................i was just waiting for Mathew Kelly to walk round the corner with his big black book.

Luckily some of the absent Lions turned up, Dani and Furuk were back but were wondering whether they had been away for years as the might of a few weeks back had diminished to a mere few!

We managed to eventually get a team of 11 together, albeit by about 445pm!, and here we go there was,
Goalkeeper (??? from the opposition), Murray, Rich (capt), Seaman, Mesh, Dani, Furuk, Marlon, Pablo and the linesman, a frail soldier with more bandage than the average mummy and a 60yr old ex sri lankan international who must have played before sri lanka had even seen a football.......
even pablo's brother offered to play (and hes not shy of a big mac!!) but he could not find any boots.......

I am not going to say to much about the game apart from some highlights and mentions, cos i was too busy looking to where the next member of the oposition was coming from, im sure they had 15 on the pitch and Osman decided to give them everything and give us nothing.

We went 1 nil down in the first 15 mins, and were waiting for the avalanche, i can only imagine how those Soldiers must have felt as the Zulu's came over the hill many years ago.......... and a thought did cross my mind..........what was Colombo Lions FC highest ever defeat???.......but not for too long........

From this point onwards thats all i can say is that i am proud to be a Lion, the Team (which was a little weak.!!!!) fought, scrapped and dug in like david v goliath.......and could have even come away with something.

Everyone played like men possessed, i have to mention all of the Lions members as they ALL deserve it....

Murray / Mesh and Marlon - tackled everything that came towards them......
Seaman - MOM by a mile - solid at the back
Dani / Furuk in midfield - battled all day
Pablo - nearly scored a few crackers and picked a fight with 25 of the opposition, think they were hacked off with his tricks..!!
