With apologies if I’ve spelt your name wrong, invented you, missed you out altogether or fictionalised events.
Thanks to no-one for Dictaphone duty as I forgot to turn it on.

Old Anadians 0 - Colombo Lions 3
Victory sees Lion’s unbeaten record broken.
Another away day. This time we travelled to Sir Henry Pedris stadium to take on the side that backed out last week. Despite the advancing years of some of their number, they were no push-over and had a number of chances. Their finishing left a lot to be desired though and in the end it was a comfortable win. The pitch was a bit unkind and the kick-off was delayed but we pretty much sealed the deal as the light faded. 11 games without defeat tastes really sweet doesn't it?
The opening moments saw the Lions take the game to the opposition and an early effort drifted just wide.
Old Anandians were having trouble getting into the final third with some great covering at the back by Steve A and John starting some good moves from the middle of the park. There were chances at both ends, more so for the Lions but both defences were playing a clever game.
It took twenty minutes before Pablo pushed the Lions in front with a typical left foot drive which went in low at the keeper’s near post. Mr. Osman took some stick from the home side after a suggestion of off-side but after consulting with his tiny assistant, the goal stood.
0 – 1
Here’s where it gets a bit hazy.
Suffice to say that Pablo took a bit of a kicking down the left hand side but responded by doubling the lead at some point during the game. I’ve narrowed it down to either the first or second half. Well done young chap.
0 - 2
Andy had a great chance to make it three when he met Disco’s cross on the volley with his right foot but the shot went just over.
Half time 0 – 2
There wasn’t enough time for the traditional 15 minute break so after a few words of encouragement from Rich, we got back in the saddle.
Old Anandians had more of the ball in this half and used it quite well generating one or two clear cut chances on the Lion’s goal but Asanga stood firm and made some excellent saves not least from a point blank bullet header which may have altered the course of the game.
With ten minutes remaining, Steve A looked up from outside the area and went for a long range effort which sailed in at the top corner beyond a despairing keeper. A beauty.
0 – 3
The rest of the game was easy as Old Anandian heads dropped. And with good reason. We bossed the mid-field, their keeper was a busy man and the back four gave them nothing.
Final score: 0 – 3
Kaz picks up the M.o.M. award. Always a contender but today the man was everywhere.
Mr. Osman seemed to be mellowing towards us Lions and gave a near faultless display of top class refsmanship. One wonders what Old Anandians did to upset the bloke?
Starting XI: Asanga, Laurent, Kaz, Iain C, Sylvain, John, Danieli, Steve A (Capt) (1), Disco, Mesh, Pablo (2)
Subs: Seaman, Adrian, Kadi, Andy
