NO EXIT TALKS FOR DE GEA

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the future of David De Gea at Manchester United as it looks like the Spanish international might stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer. David De Gea was strongly linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams when he lost his place to England international Dean Henderson in the Manchester United starting XI but managed to regain his place towards the end of last season culminating in him being the villain as the Red Devils were beaten by Villarreal in the Europa League final.

David De Gea missed the penalty that handed the Yellow Submarines the Europa League title during shootout after regulation time and extra time ended with a goal apiece for the two teams involved in the Europa League final in Gdansk, Poland last season. Villarreal forward Gerard Moreno scored in the first half before his goal was cancelled out by Manchester United striker EdinsonCavani in the second half.

Villarreal were successful with all their 11 penalties during shootoutwhile David De Gea missed the last of the 11 penalties to hand Villarreal their first major European trophy. He had his penalty saved during sudden death as the Red Devils failed to and their four-year wait for a major trophy.

Respected journalist while speaking on De Gea and a possible exit this summer revealed that his weekly wages at Manchester United could prove to be a stumbling block for an exit. De Gea is one of the highest paid players at Manchester United and in the Premier League.

For now, the focus for De Gea is on the Spanish national team at the Euro 2020 tournament. He has been on the bench for the whole of the tournament with manager Luis Enrique opting for Athletic Bilbao shot stopper Unai Simon over a more experienced option like De Gea.
