Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure for the first time this season ahead of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash with Villarreal on Wednesday. Solskjaer is under pressure to produce a result against the Yellow Submarines after the Premier League defeat at home to Aston Villa last week Saturday and he needs a win at home to Villarreal in what's the repeat of
the Europa League final from last season.
Manchester United are down by one place from third to fourth position on the Premier League standings after the Villa game. Courtney Hause scored the lone goal of the game in the second half as Villa secured a 1-0 away win over the Red Devils. Manchester United have not been the best defensively in the Premier League this term and it showed against Villa last weekend.
David De Gea has been in good form in the Manchester United goal this season and he could not do much for the Villa goal scored via a well taken corner kick from Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz. The Spaniard was the man reason Manchester United were able to win their penultimate league outing at the home of West Ham United. David De Gea saved a last gasp penalty to ensure that the Red Devils picked up a 2-1 win over the Hammers.
Manchester United first choice goalkeeper David De Gea will feel he has something to prove against Villarreal after he missed his spot kick to give the Yellow Submarines the Europa League title when the two teams met in the final of the competition last season. Solskjaer would be hoping that De Gea is on top of his game like he has been all season as he needs a win against the Spanish team. Manchester United began their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 loss to Swiss champions Young Boys, while Villarreal played out a 2-2 draw with Italian team Atalanta.
